Since the beginning of time, societies have measured men by their ability to complete feats of strength, their willingness to face dangerous tasks, and their accumulated wealth.  Today, men continue to be judged by their jobs, bank accounts, cars, homes, and outward appearance.  Powerful role models, however, are not defined by material gain and physical perfection but by the way the face and live through their life experiences.  Genuine Men captures the essence of what it really means to be a man of great character and true strength.

By bringing the images and stories of these men to the community, our greatest hope is that viewers of the exhibition will walk away with a new understanding of men as positive role models; the type of men that one might want to emulate sometime in their own life’s journey. This new, or redefined, version of strength of character will not only come as a result of viewing the photographs and reading the biographies, but by the dialogue that I believe the exhibition will foster amongst members of the viewing audience. In addition, by seeing men in all stages of their life’s journey, I want men who are struggling with the process of establishing their personal identity to realize that they are not alone in their quest.

If your university, school, or organization is interested in bringing the genuine men project to your community, please contact us.  Partial proceeds raised through the sale of the book, genuine men…journeys in stories and stills at each exhibition will go directly to the sponsoring organization.
